Fwd: here’s the secret to motivation (hit, it doesn’t just come to you) Pt.3

Preview
Sean here with a concept that hit me like a ton of bricks, it started me down a path that I can trace almost all the success in my business back to.

Motivation isn't about your thoughts or even your feelings. Motivation is a result of actions.

However, action isn't something our brain gets excited about. In fact, our brain actively fights against it...

Our brain craves drama, distractions, and chaos… and that will drive a cycle of demotivation:

When you're trying something new your brain starts to scream things like:
  • You're not the kind of person who finishes things…
  • You shouldn't even give it a try because it's just a waste of time…
  • You're not good enough, you've made too many mistakes, it's not worth it…

Tired of those kinds of thoughts clouding your mind? Paralyzing your ability to even take the first step? Well, today we're going to walk through EXACTLY the steps you need to take to bypass those paralyzing thoughts and start getting important things done.

Here's what most people don't understand:

Motivation isn't a feeling per say… it's a result; a result of taking action.

You see, most people think that motivation just comes to you out of the blue, that you have to wait to have it before you can start. In reality, it's been shown over and over again that the "feeling" of motivation is created when we take the first step towards completion of our goals.

After that first step, motivation can breed more motivation. Creating a positive cycle in our lives of momentum.

"Do the thing, and you shall have the power."
– Ralph Waldo Emerson.

This core principle is the foundation we're stating with, but the key actually lies in what will help us "do the thing"… For me, it has come down to one simple thing that I break down in the 3rd part of the series "How to Murder Your Inner Gremlin" – click here to learn what it is, and how to apply it.

That simple thing might seem obvious, but it is one of the most difficult things for us to find in this distraction driven world.

Rules.

Yes, they're boring… Yes, they can seem like no fun… But they are the critical missing thing in our hunt for motivation.

How?

We'll check this out…

As you can see – OUR OBJECTIVE gives value to OUR RULES which drive OUR ACTIONS.

If you have a clear objective the next step is to give yourself rules, these rules will serve as the true foundation for taking that first step.

There's a lot more to the process, but for many I've worked with, it's the missing piece of the puzzle of success.

I can't promise that this article will change your life, but I do know if you apply the principles in it you will see it have a positive impact... I know in my life it made all the difference.

Do me a favor, give the article a read and let me know in the comments if you find it more difficult to find motivation at the start or at the finish line of projects.

P.S. "We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons." -Jim Rohn --- Which pain would you rather endure? The beauty of discipline is it's a "pain" that becomes a joy the more we do it. Click here to learn how to make the process easier, and the benefits that come from unlocking your ability to "take the first step".

P.S.S. If you've missed the first two parts of the article they're on the same page of the new one (just scroll up :)
