The longer the clip length the better. At 16x speed, 16 seconds becomes 1, 160 seconds becomes 10 etc. Better too much to start with than too little! -
Choose your speed wisely. If you have lots of detail in your scene then i'd recommend 16x, with less detail, speed it up to 32x or 64x. -
Move straight, or as straight as you can while filming. Changing directions frequently does not look good sped up. -
Turn direction lock OFF to avoid excess camera shake. -
Reframing your clip can turn an 'average' hyperlapse shot into a mind-blowing one! -
Look for passing elements as you go. People, buildings, cars & clouds all look awesome with motion blur. -
Don't stop moving. When you stop, the hyperlapse stops. -
Short hyperlapses (2-5 seconds) can still work well if the location is good. -
The Pivot Effect: Try walking around your subject (ideally something BIG) 1-3 times and reframe toward it. Will look amazing sped up! -
Consider shooting from vehicles. Vehicles add an interesting contrast of near & far hyperlapse elements. | | | | | |
